New Volvo XC40 P6 Recharge sells out in less than 24 hours

The initial allocation of Volvo Car South Africa’s second all-electric variant, the XC40 P6 Recharge, was sold out in less than 24 hours.

The order books for the XC40 P6 Recharge officially opened early on Tuesday, July 26th, and all 25 units were gone by the following morning. The highly anticipated single-motor electric XC40 was only available online through Volvo’s www.myvolvo.co.za website, with a starting price of R1 075 000.

Greg Maruszewski, Managing Director of Volvo Car South Africa, believes the XC40 P6 Recharge’s overwhelming customer response is due in large part to its competitive pricing.

“We were determined to bring in the XC40 P6 Recharge at a competitive price, positioning it as the most affordable all-electric luxury vehicle on the market right now.” This clearly resonated with a number of South Africans interested in switching to battery-powered vehicles, resulting in the P6 selling out even faster than our twin-motor XC40 P8 Recharge AWD,” said Maruszewski.

Quick-thinking buyers who spotted the XC40 P6 Recharge’s compelling value proposition and snatched up the first units will benefit from strong peak outputs (170 kW and 330 Nm), a competitive single-charge range (up to 423 km*), a generous array of standard equipment, and Volvo’s signature suite of world-class safety features. Deliveries will begin later this year.

*Range is based on WLTP driving cycles; actual range may vary. The figures are based on an initial target. Vehicle certification is still pending.
