From vulgar language to physical altercations, it would seem as though road rage is so deeply ingrained in many societies that its almost become the norm to find people at each other’s throats when driving. ARRIVE ALIVE describes road rage as “an incident in which an angry or impatient motorist or passenger intentionally injures or kills another motorist, passenger or pedestrian, or attempts or threatens to injure or kill another motorist, passenger or pedestrian.” 

A video published on the YouTube channel “Wham Baam Teslacam” replaying footage taken from a Tesla Model 3 shows a Tesla owner who was in the process of leaving a parking lot when a driver in a lifted Ford bakkie began yelling at and insulting the Tesla driver. Immediately after insulting the Tesla driver, a passenger in another bakkie threw something at the car. The driver quickly took off but was then pursued by two or more bakkies. A twenty-minute long chase ensued with multiple objects repeatedly thrown at the Tesla. 

Through traffic and across parking lots, the pursuers were unrelenting in the undeserved harassment of the unfortunate Tesla driver. When the situation began escalating and the driver grew more and more fearful about what could happen, he called the police. Expecting protection and assistance the Tesla driver informed a 911 operator about the drivers that had been following and harassing him. Unfortunately, the 911 operator was unwilling to assist the distressed driver and kept asking if the situation was really urgent enough to warrant dispatching police… 

After desperately trying to shake the enraged drivers, the Model 3 driver managed to evade the pursuers. Arriving at a police station, the driver was offered very little assistance but reluctantly the officers helped file a report. The driver said that officers came to his home to review the footage but has not received any further assistance. Take a look at the video below.

The rear-wheel drive coupé set an impressive time of 7 minutes and 30,79 seconds. There was a general feeling amongst petrolheads, though, that the M4 could set a faster time around the legendary circuit…

And so, eight months later, the Sport Auto team is back and this time with an xDrive variant of the M4 Competition. Channelling 375 kW and 650 N.m to all four wheels, is the added traction enough to offset the additional 75 kg of the AWD system, too?

Having set a time of 7 minutes and 28,57 seconds, it most certainly is – a whopping two seconds faster than its RWD sibling. It’s worth noting, too, that both cars were wearing Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, and of course naturally, the AWD model managed to keep things a little tidier in the corners. This time is in fact quicker than that of the monstrous BMW M5 CS which managed a time of 7 minutes and 29,5 seconds.

A more hardcore version of the BMW M4 is expected later this year with rumours suggesting that it might be the next CSL model. It’ll almost certainly be lighter than the M4 Competition, as well as more powerful, but will only send its power to the rear wheels.

We wait with baited breath, then to see if it has what it takes to dethrone the grippy M4 Competition xDrive at the Nürburgring…

Shared on the r/idiotsincars subreddit, we can see right off the bat that the Discovery Sport is looking to get through the circle with haste but, almost as soon as the cars enter the circle, they are presented by a traffic jam. To circumvent this, the Land Rover gets the idea to switch lanes, only the drive completely loses all sense of spatial awareness and makes contact with the GR Yaris.

The plastic bumper comically rebounds the impact from the Discovery Sport’s tyre and sends it rolling over on its roof. Motorists across the circle rush out of their cars to assist the driver. The GR Yaris looks to be unscathed but if you look closely, you can see the right side of the suspension has sunk a bit, suggesting that there may be some structural damage.

All seems well when the AN10 generation Toyota Hilux with a commercial flatbed enters the circle alongside a pre-facelifted Ford Ranger with a similar bodystyle. However, chaos ensues when a single-cab N140 generation Toyota Hilux with a flatbed body and trailer (and mismatched wheels) aims for the second exit and rams into the side of its successor.

When the driver recording the incident approaches the circle, we see that the left lane is meant for the first and second exit while the right is dedicated to the second and third exit. With this in mind we can assume that each entrance of the roundabout follows this protocol. If true, this would put the AN10 Toyota Hilux at fault is it was in the left lane but directed itself towards the third exit.

The N140 Toyota Hilux appeared to have spotted the fault but due to a lack of ABS, was unable to stop in time. As a result, it pushes into the newer model, causing it to topple and roll-over completely. Traffic at the roundabout comes to an immediate stop.

It’s not clear what’s taking place ahead of the traffic due to a lack of visuals but, the Nissan X-Trail leading the pack shows an intention to cross over into the left lane which we later see to be a slipway. The Japanese crossover is followed by a Ford Transit and, our perpetrator, the Ford Ranger. After the white Kia Ceed passes, the Ranger decides to cross over into the left lane while presumably failing to check its blindspot.

Quickly after that, we see the Grand Vitara execute an evasive maneuver but the front MacPherson and rear De Dion coil spring suspension of the older SUV isn’t enough to keep it composed. As a result, the Grand Vitara oversteers into the Ford Ranger which shows no signs of slowing down. The two vehicles make contact and the Japanese SUV is forced into an innocent Hyundai Getz before landing on its roof.

Having just witnessed a Suzuki hate crime, the Jimny one car ahead appears extremely weary of the troublesome Ranger. It then looks as if the instigator of the incident shows an intention to come to a stop but instead, after squeezing past a beefed-up Nissan Patrol that pulls over to assist the overthrown Grand Vitara, it speeds off down the motorway.

We see it every day in South Africa, but it’s not a problem that’s specifically limited to our country as this dashcam video from California illustrates (uploaded on YouTube by ViralHog). 

And this is where South African authorities need to take some notes, as we see a stream of emergency lane hogs suddenly become a line of cars parked on the verge as a police officer hands out a dose of karma to every single one of them.

Of course it is illegal to use the emergency lane to overtake traffic on a freeway although many people tend to see it as a grey area as emergency lane driving is actually permitted on single lane roads; where slower vehicles may pull over to allow faster ones to continue under a very specific set of circumstances. It must be daytime, for instance, and there needs to be at least 150 metres of visibility.

On the freeway, however, the emergency lane is exactly what its name implies.

Traffic jams can be frustrating for a lot of people, especially those in a hurry. It’s not too uncommon to see drivers deciding that they no longer want to participate and just pull a U-turn and head the other direction. This video recorded in Lansdowne, Australia and featuring a Toyota Hilux shows us why this isn’t always the best idea.

Recorded at 16:50 in the afternoon, the Toyota Hilux owner gets immediately frustrated at the fact that there is a traffic jam and makes the choice to turn into the oncoming lane with the intention to head the other way. However, it seems the driver may have misjudged the space they had and landed up causing a bit of a spider’s nest.

The victim to fall prey to this trap was an older blue Opel Astra that didn’t have much time to react. With some late braking and evasive maneuvers, the Astra managed to edge to the right and make contact with the Hilux’s overhang area thus creating a new traffic jam in the oncoming lane.

By the looks of it, no one involved was hurt and fellow drivers rushed quickly to assist.

This dashcam footage from Australia shows a previous-generation Mitsubishi Triton driver that doesn’t seem to notice the traffic lights ahead are red. Resultantly, it crosses through the intersection and makes contact with a fellow Mitsubishi owner.

At the 11-second mark, in heavy rains, the driver of the bakkie realises their mistake and slams the brakes but by this point it’s too late. The load-carrying Triton coasts through the intersection and makes contact with a previous-generation Mitsubishi Outlander after narrowly missing a bright blue Ford Focus.

Captured on Franklin D. Roosevelt Drive in New York City, the video shows the black saloon come speeding into the frame at the 16-second mark. The driver brakes hard after seemingly losing control of the car going into the bend. The German sedan then slams into one barrier before ricocheting into the opposite item.

A white C-Class narrowly avoids the collision, before speeding off into the distance (closely followed by the camera-equipped car).

Here’s hoping nobody was seriously hurt in the crash. Watch the video above…
