Not for the squeamish, a limited edition Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale met its unfortunate demise on an Australian suburban road when the driver lost control and plummeted into a Nissan Navara bakkie.
The Ferrari 360 Modena, a model that entered the new millennium for the Prancing Horse and immediately became one of the most successful models ever produced by the high-end Italian automaker. Less than 18 000 of these were ever birthed, with only 1 288 Challenge Stradale being commissioned. After a recent incident in Australia, that tally is now one less after the mid-engined V8 Ferrari ploughed into a high-riding Nissan Navara bakkie with a fairly fatal outcome to the structural components of the model.
Fortunately, it is just the 360 Challenge Stradale that suffered grievous damages, the driver Rob Morrow fortunate to walk away unscathed save from a battered ego and a difficult insurance call to make. In the embedded video below, it seems as though the rear end of the Ferrari loses traction during acceleration, slamming the Prancing Horse into the oncoming bakkie, waiting in a traffic queue.

By the looks of things, many would deem it a write off however a Ferrari Club of Australia spokesperson has stated that the lucrative model is repairable, although considerable time, money and effort would be needed to return it to a former glory.
A seasoned Ferrari 360 can sell for just over R1 million however the far more sought-after 360 Challenge Stradale can demand anywhere upwards of R7 million, courtesy of its modifications and limited numbers. Speaking of which, the 360 Challenge Stradale is differentiated from its standard counterpart courtesy of its 3,6-litre V8 pushing out 313 kW as opposed to 294 kW. In addition to the bump in power, it was also stripped of 110 kg as a result of aluminium, titanium and carbon fibre being used inside and out.
