The Goodwood Festival of Speed began with a bang as the Hyundai RN22e concept car suffered a hard crash on the first day of the event. The one-of-one concept veered off course and collided with a row of hay bales after the driver lost control on a challenging left turn.
Fortunately, there were no reported injuries resulting from this incident. The RN22e was making its way up the hill during one of the early runs of the day. However, it became evident that the driver misjudged the infamous hard left corner, causing the car to plough straight into the hay bales.
Although the car’s tinted windows made it difficult to ascertain the exact number of occupants, it appeared that there were two individuals inside. Shortly after the crash, the driver emerged from the vehicle seemingly unharmed. Later on, another person wearing a helmet and a Hyundai racing suit was also spotted.
The RN22e concept boasts a dual-electric motor all-wheel drive system, generating a combined output of 430 kW of power and 740 N.m of torque. These figures mirror those of the Kia EV6 GT. The concept car is claimed to have a top speed exceeding 250 km/h.
