This isn’t the first time the Formula 1 driver has helped promote Mercedes products – it’s expectedly part of his contractual duties racing for the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team. More specifically, it is not even his first time previewing the sleek lines of the coupe seen here considering in 2016, the Brit promoted the brutal GT R.

Like the model from a few years ago, this new iteration is thankfully still motivated by a V8 and aims to be the Affalterbach answer to the 911. Read more about it below.

Interestingly enough, the new GT has become a four-seater, albeit technically a 2+2, much like its Zuffenhausen counterpart. This was only a small aspect of what the Formula 1 driver demonstrates in this latest Mercedes-Benz video. When it comes to the front seats, the model here wears the optional AMG Performance seats which expectedly provide superior bolstering and comfort. This would have been crucial in ensuring Hamilton remained firmly entrenched within the seat during some theatric stunts on a dirt road with the low-slung coupe.

Who says a coupe can’t venture off of the beaten path?

If the expectedly high price of this V8 model is too much of a stretch, there may be a 2,0-litre powered 43-badged model in the works while an E Performance iteration is set to arrive as the polar opposite to the fossil fuel burning counterpart.

A terrible fear for many drivers, the recent typhoons in Asia have caused havoc, with the most recent road-related incident caught on camera involving an Isuzu mu-X and a washed-away bridge.

Typhoon Doksuri unleashed torrential downpours across the Philippines, Taiwan, and China, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Amidst the chaos, an incident caught on dashcam recording offers a glimpse into the extent of the devastation, capturing the moment an Isuzu mu-X SUV driver unwittingly plung down the abyss of a washed-away bridge. The incident unfolded in Harbin, situated in the northeastern region of China, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The video footage, shrouded in a foggy atmosphere, initially presents a seemingly normal road scene. Suddenly, a void emerges on the horizon, catching the camera-car driver’s attention. The dashcam captures a white SUV in the fast lane, seemingly unaware of the impending chasm, as there are no signs of brake lights activating.

The clip then transitions to the aftermath, where bystanders rush to the scene to offer assistance. Amid the commotion, rescuers struggle to navigate the area obstructed by onlookers, yet their efforts are evident as they manage to extricate an individual from the abyss. A fleeting glimpse reveals a second vehicle caught within the crevice.

The typhoon’s impact is evident in many regions of China, with Beijing shattering a 140-year-old record for weekly rainfall, as reported by BBC News.

Being a force majeure, this should be a lesson for all road users to drive with maximum caution in the scenario of excess rain and conditions with limited visibility.

Heart in the throat, watching this video of famed skateboarder, Tyshawn Jones, ollie over a R30 million Ferrari Monza SP2 will leave all viewers in awe and shock at the same time.

The latest viral video of a Ferrari doesn’t involve the car in operation but rather of a theatrical stunt being performed over its roofless bodywork. Not just any skateboarder, Tyshawn Jones was the man responsible for this feat. At 24 years of age, he is the youngest skateboarder to win Thrasher magazine’s Skater of the Year award – something that he has managed twice.

In the embedded video from his Instagram profile below, he comically dubbed the feat the “5 million dollar Ollie,” alluding to the alleged value of the limited edition Ferrari. This number is a bit far-fetched but not too far off – when new a few years ago, the sleek and topless model sold for €1,6 million (roughly R30 million) but now it is estimated to fetch upwards of $3 million (R53 million) when switching hands between very affluent owners.

Speaking of which, it is not known who the owner of this blue and white finished SP2 is but Jones alludes to who it may possibly be in the caption of the video by crediting executive Steven Victor for having faith in him. He finally adds that Ferrari should consider hiring him as a brand ambassador although it is highly unlikely since the top brass at the Prancing Horse may consider this masterfully committed manoeuvre as an act of sacrilege.

Despite this, Jones’ potential collaboration with the Italian automaker isn’t impossible considering his previous experience working with major brands like Adidas and his own Hardies Hardware brand, which recently collaborated with the renowned streetwear company Supreme.

The Ferrari Monza SP1 and SP2 (one and two seaters respectively), introduced in 2018, represent the first models in Ferrari’s Icona sub-range, boasting a retro-modern design reminiscent of the brand’s 1950s sports cars. These roadsters derive their underpinnings from the powerful 812 Superfast but notably lack a conventional windshield. Instead, Ferrari incorporated the “Virtual Wind Shield” to direct airflow smoothly over the occupants while providing a clear view of the surroundings.

Equipped with a naturally aspirated 6,5-liter V12 engine producing an impressive 603 kW and 719 N.m, both the SP1 and SP2 can reach 100 km/h in just 2,9 seconds. Ferrari quoted their top speeds at over 300 km/h or whoever is brave enough to find out without a metal cage around their head.. With less than 500 examples of the SP1 and SP2 ever made, encountering one of these rare vehicles is a special occasion, and allowing a skateboarder, even a professional like Jones, to perform an ollie over it requires a truly trusting owner.

It’s been anything but smooth sailing at this year’s action-packed Festival of Speed. On day 2, spectators witnessed Hyundai’s RN22e plough through five hay bale barriers. Thankfully the occupants were unharmed but the same can’t be said for the one-of-one prototype.

A little later in the day, a prototype of the 2024 AMG GT pulled up to the start line and cemented its dungy run with a little sideways action. What could only be a sonorous V8 under its elongated bonnet oddly be heard bellowing and howling as it paced up Goodwood Hill.

One doughnut. Two doughnuts. Boom!

Unfortunately, it seems that in an attempt to please the crowd and showcase a sliver of its V8-sourced grunt, the sultry coupe ended up mounting the grassy mound whereafter it returned to the tarmac with some damage to the front diffuser but not much else thankfully. The same cant be said for the driver’s ego.

The near production-ready model is said to be the range-topping “63” offshoot given its V8 snarl, aggressive wheels and exhaust configuration.

There’s still no word on when the next iteration of the AMG GT nameplate will be revealed, however, it must be said that earlier this year, eager enthusiasts had the opportunity to peak beyond the cover and get a glimpse of the undisturbed frame at the AMG GT Live Sneak Preview in Affalterbach. Despite having to pay to get a view of the car, it does give us an indication of where the project is at so expect a reveal date not too long from now.
